The agency reaffirmed its dedication to mitigating traffic congestion through the deployment of advanced technology which it called the Whistle app.
The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, Taofiq Adebayo, said this in a statement on Monday.
“This pioneering application empowers Lagos residents to report reckless driving, traffic violations, one-way contraventions, and other disruptive occurrences directly to LASTMA.
“Whether navigating a traffic snarl, witnessing an accident, or encountering a hazardous vehicle, users can seamlessly alert nearby LASTMA personnel.
“Upon receiving such reports, the agency will respond swiftly to address the situation, whether by decongesting traffic, managing accident scenes, or removing obstructive vehicles.
“This will thereby foster a safer and more efficient commuting experience for all,” he said.
He noted that traffic woes in Lagos were often aggravated by drivers who flagrantly disregard traffic regulations, ignore signals, take one-way routes, and infringe on the rights of other road users.
“Once verified, our teams will deploy necessary resources to address these issues promptly.
“The public is urged to collaborate with LASTMA in cultivating safer and more orderly roadways throughout the state.
“Let us join forces to alleviate traffic bottlenecks and ensure a smooth and enjoyable festive season for everyone,” he added.
