Emergency services were called to the beach following the discovery
The body of a man has been found on Ainsdale beach, police confirmed this evening. The body was discovered by a member of the public, who alerted emergency services at around 1.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, December 4).
Emergency services attended the scene and the body was recovered from Ainsdale beach by HM Coastguard. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence in Ainsdale, including police and the coastguard. The body has not yet been formally identified, police said.
A mobile police station was pictured parked up by the beach this evening along with other police vehicles.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that a body has been recovered from Ainsdale beach this afternoon (Wednesday, 4 December). A member of the public called emergency services after discovering the body at 1.30pm. At this stage the body has not been formally identified.”
