At least four people were reportedly killed and two others injured in Imana village of Ikobi council Ward in Apa LGA of Benue State by suspected armed herders on Wednesday evening.
A village elder, Atule Amodu, told our correspondent on telephone that, “They (armed herders) killed four persons and injured one. They invaded the people there. The people are surrounded by hills. That was how they took them unawares and began to kill them. The attackers are armed herders.”
He added that, “This year if you come to our place there is hunger because we can no longer go to farm. Our wives are now going about looking for food.”
Barrister Eche Akpoko, Chairman of Apa Development Association, who also confirmed the attack to our correspondent, said so far four corpses were recovered. Spokesperson of the police in Benue, SP Catherine Anene, however, said she was not aware of the attack.
