Emir of Zazzau visits NAHCON, pledges support for Hajj reforms

The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has visited the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, assuring the commission of the traditional institution’s support for improved Hajj administration.

During the visit, the Emir called for sustained efficiency, early preparations and transparent communication in the management of Hajj operations, particularly in addressing recurring challenges affecting Nigerian pilgrims.

He commended the NAHCON leadership for its efforts to reform Hajj operations, noting that managing the logistics of tens of thousands of pilgrims was a major responsibility requiring dedication, transparency and strategic planning.

The Emir also stressed the important role of traditional institutions in mobilising and sensitising intending pilgrims, saying the Zazzau Emirate would continue to support efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth Hajj exercise.

“Hajj is a significant spiritual journey, and the comfort, safety, and well-being of our people while fulfilling this religious obligation must remain paramount,” the Emir said.

He urged NAHCON to sustain its drive towards structural efficiency and early preparations while improving communication with stakeholders.

Responding, the NAHCON Chairman expressed appreciation to the Emir for the visit, describing it as a significant morale boost for the commission’s management and staff.

Ambassador Yusuf briefed the royal father on NAHCON’s latest policy frameworks, digital innovations and strategic partnerships designed to reduce costs, improve accommodation and feeding arrangements, and streamline the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims.

The chairman assured the Emir that the commission would consider the insights shared during the meeting, reiterating NAHCON’s commitment to providing a world-class Hajj experience that meets the expectations of the Nigerian government and the Muslim Ummah.
